Ignorance

What a sweet word Ignorance is . Ignorance is bliss was the words quoted by Bertrand Russell. But, I would like to differ in this quote. Perhaps Mr. Russell did not think about the implications it would have world over. Due to ignorance in the countries like India elections are won by unscrupulus elements by giving liquor and money to the people.

If these people were educated the problems would be less. But, unfortunately the educated class are also the same and they do not go and vote on the Election day. Ignorance in the Financial field will also lead to disasters like making wrong Investments in many Financial schemes. The Investors in India ignored the sub prime crisis in US and went on investing thereby loosing money during the meltdown. Ignorance is a fine tool for corrupt politicians to remain in power. That is why many parts of India remain backward as the powers that be do not want people to be educated and thereby making them ignorant. Thereby, winning elections and coming to power for making more wealth.

Ignorance of the polity of other countries also effects the Advanced Nations. Eg.. The United States and Russia to counter each other encouraged terrorism in Afghanistan and the problem has engulfed these countries today. So, it is better be vigilant and treat Ignorance a National or International mental disorder (On the lighter side.)There is a saying Ignorance Of Law is no Excuse.

  1. You bring up some thought provoking issues here. Believe me, Ignorance is not limited to India. In America we have this problem with students, they are notorious for not showing up to vote on the election day and then they complain for 4 years. Things are changing because there is a very aggressive proactive media push to get people to vote. Indian media seems to be very aggressive reactive media, like the reaction we saw after Mumbai bombings,no follow up after. Ignorance from uneducated people is expected but ignorance of the educated upper class is unpardonable.
